Maple Leaves Lapel Pins

In 1964, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson shook hands with flag-toting Jim Soni outside the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. The student presented Pearson with a petition supporting his proposal for a maple leaf flag. The three-leafed maple motif was taken from the Red Ensign, Canada's unofficial flag at the time, and would later inspire the look of Kent of Inglewood.
