They are crafted using a specialized zinc alloy pressure casting process. First, your artwork is converted into a detailed digital 3D model to carve a steel mold. Next, molten metal is injected into the rubber/steel mold to create heavy-weight diecast pins, which are then hand-polished and electroplated.

Die struck pins are stamped into metal sheets (creating flat multi-levels), whereas die cast lapel pins are cast from liquid molten metal in a 3D mold. Die casting allows for dynamic 3D curves, cut-out holes, and irregular shapes that die stamping cannot achieve.

The primary material for custom 3d pins is high-grade zinc alloy due to its excellent fluidity when melted, making it ideal for capturing intricate 3D details and custom cut-outs. Heavy brass can also be used for specific military or high-end challenge badge orders.
